FINNISH KARATE SHOTOKAN ACADEMY

The Finnish Shotokan Karate Academy, officially the F.K.S.A. existed from 1992 till the end of 2001. The Academy was actually a small organization and its members consisted of senior trainers of Shotokan Clubs. The original idea of the Academy was initiated in Northern Finland but in the end members came from all over the country. The main task of the F.K.S.A. was to support and to motivate senior trainers and to improve the level of Shotokan Ryu Kase Ha Finland. The task was carried out by organizing courses, creating contacts with other European instructors and sharing information.

The F.K.S.A. emphasized the idea of being open-hearted and co- operative with all karate trainers who are training their art as budo. Arranging of training courses was the main activity of the F.K.S.A. During the almost ten-year-existence there were seven courses instructed by Taiji Kase sensei, 23 courses by Dirk Heene sensei and countless number of other training events. The F.K.S.A. brought up at least one tough instructor generation and what is most important it was the substratum for the SRKH in Finland.
